Summer STEM Camp with iD Tech

shahla · May 22, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Summer camps have evolved quite a bit from when I was a kid. This post has been sponsored by iD Tech the views represented are my own. In the age where my seven-year-old does her first-grade reports using Google slides or iMovie, the summer STEM camps available cater to these blossoming, tech-savvy minds. Typically, after the first week of summer break, my kids are bored and looking for something to occupy their minds and time. I try to make sure their break is balanced with scheduled and unscheduled time. With their scheduled time, we balance that with camps that keep them physically active and camps that enrich their minds through learning new skills. The latter is what I will be focusing on today. If you are looking for a top-rated STEM summer program check out iD Tech.

Proximity and Convenience

iD Tech has their tech programs at prestigious campuses all over the US and world (Stanford and NYU to name a couple).  We have two campuses within a twenty-minute drive near us, in the East Bay Area. They have over 20 years of experience and are considered to be the premier STEM summer program for kids between the ages of 7 – 19.

There is the option of overnight camp in order to make this convenient for parents and a well-rounded experience for older kids. The day camp schedule goes from 8:30-5:30. You can see a sample schedule of their daily activities here. Also, there are various add-ons for the camp, like lunch, private online tutoring, college advising and more.

Variety of Courses

Do you have a child who is obsessed with video games? My friends’ sons are all about Fortnite. I do not think I have heard them speak about anything other than that video game. If this sounds familiar, check out their camp. Students learn to code, design video games, design Fortnite-inspired levels, build with Minecraft, create with Roblox.

If your child is wanting to create videos there are courses to learn how to make them in Adobe and also how to create their own YouTube channel.

My seven-year-old is most excited about the robotics LEGO course and learning to print 3D characters. I mean, is it so bad to hope she can teach me?

Attention and Fun

In my opinion, one of the best features of iD Tech’s summer camp (other than their curriculum) is the small student to teacher ratio. There are 5-10 students per instructor with a maximum of 10. This makes for great individualized attention.

My personal favorite is that iD Tech understands that these are..well…kids! There is plenty of FUN at their summer STEM camp! And let’s be real, kids learn more and develop passion for subjects when they are having a good time. They have themed dress-up days, outdoor activities, gaming tournaments, music video parodies…and my daughter’s favorite: pie-your-instructor Fridays.

Cool fact: over these 20 years in business, iD Tech has 400,000 alumni, many of which have gone on to work for companies like Google, Facebook, Pixar, Tesla and more! My kids talk a lot about wanting to build and be engineers, this seems like the perfect camp to expose them to a variety of tech skills! Learn more here.

What are your kids doing this summer?

With love,

Shahla
